How old must I be to rent a car from Hertz in Australia?

21. Drivers aged 21-24 will be charged a daily young renter fee which is capped at 7 days per 30 days rental. Young drivers can also rent vehicles from the Hertz Prestige collection.

What Driving License does Hertz accept?

A full unrestricted driving license in English held for 12 consecutive months. Non-English driving licenses must be supported by an International Driving Permit (IDP) or certified English translation. Renters from China can use a China Notarial Certificate in place of an IDP along with their Chinese license.

What Driving License do I need when hiring a Hertz car in Tasmania?

In Tasmania Hertz require that you must have held a full unrestricted license for 3 years.

How I can pay for my Hertz car hire?

Hertz accept all major credit cards and Debit cards issued through Visa and Mastercard. Hertz do not accept Debit or EFT cards.

What will I be charged when collecting my vehicle?

Hertz will charge your credit card with the estimated rental cost plus a bond. The bond varies by location and type of vehicle being rented. For standard rentals the bond is $100 to $200.

What is a location fee?

In certain locations, particularly airports and remote branches Hertz charge a location fee. This reflects additional costs incurred by Hertz in providing services to that location.

Do I need to refuel my vehicle before dropping it off?

Yes. Hertz do offer prepaid full and half fuel tank options and will fill up your vehicle if dropped off without a full tank however they do charge a premium to do this. Your best option is to fill up before dropping your vehicle off.

Hertz offer a Toll Day Pass for each state. Essentially a fixed daily fee covering any road toll incurred. This is likely the preferred option. The alternative is for Hertz to bill you for each road toll. Hertz do charge an AU$38.50 administration fee for this billing service.
