"Our land is gird by sea" says the National anthem of Australia. It sure is, nearly 36,000km before adding in all the islands, that equals a lot of sand and beaches and due to the geology of the continent, a lot of those beaches have lovely white sand.
Over the years local tourism bodies have made self-proclamations to have "the whitest" sands in the country, some have even gone so far as stating "the world"!
The only solution to the squabble was to bring in the scientists - The National Committee on Soil and Terrain - for the definitive last word.
Regardless of the winner, all these beaches should be on your (beach) bucket list.
The winner is - Lucky Bay and Hellfire Bay
Cape Le Grand National Park - Western Australia.
